Silly Serpents

Vaughn wanted to hang out with me today instead of going to school, so Lila went to school in his place. We decided to go check out the reptile zoo down the street. He goes with his school a lot and loves it, and I hadn't been in years, so it sounded fun. It is pretty great even if it is a little over priced. (5 bucks per person, 4 bucks for worms to feed the swimming turtles & fish, 3 bucks for veggies to feed the giant tortoises, although I can imagine it's probably pretty expensive upkeep for all of those reptiles). Vaughn chose the worms, and they give you a plastic container filled with meal worms and a big pair of tweezers to pluck them out with. As you can probably imagine, it was really entertaining to watch. There are tons and tons of snakes, lizards, turtles, and frogs from all over the world. There is even a two headed rat snake from Texas named "Thelma & Louise". The giant monitor lizards are pretty cool, and there are some water monitors up at the front that hang out with the swimming turtles. Sometimes they can be found roaming the store. Check out Prehistoric Pets if you are ever in the mood to make your skin crawl or freak out your kids!
