Fatty Alert

I just thought I'd take a moment to pay homage to two of my favorite bad-for-you pregnancy cravers. They hit the spot like nothing else. The haagen dazs chocolate peanut butter ice cream has the absolute perfect balance ratio of chocolate and peanut butter. I have tried other brands that aren't quite so pricey, but they just don't do it for me. I always end up adding a scoop of peanut butter and mixing it in. And as for my other favorite, orange and raspberry creamsicles, man they are perfect. The funny thing about those is I have never eaten them in my entire life until recently. It's strange the things that sound good to you when you're pregnant. Things you probably would have never even thought about eating. Anyway,  I love both of these ice cream treats and my pregnancy just wouldn't be the same without them. However I do limit myself to one a day at most. I'd love to hear about some different cravings other preggos have had so feel free to comment!

ETA

The date has FINALLY been set, however, they told me it is tentative. But I'm just going with it. I'm so tired of not knowing! The surgeon's office is waiting to hear back from my doctor to make sure it meshes fine with her schedule. I'm pretty positive it will, since she is extremely easy going. She will most likely just reschedule any appointments she has that day. So our little girl is scheduled to come into this world on Tuesday, August 25th sometime soon after 11:30 am. Exciting! And it's coming up so soon! I can't wait :)  I am just hoping and praying that she won't decide to come out any earlier on her own.

Swim time

Yesterday we started swim lessons for Vaughn. It's a mommy and me class and so far, he seems to really like it. It's totally fun for me too, hanging out in the pool with my kid on a nice summer day. My friend Holly signed up with her son Jack as well, so that makes it double the fun. I am mainly enjoying doing an activity where I have complete control, and Vaughn knows it. He can't run away, ignore me, hit me or kick me, or climb all over me, which he has been doing a lot of lately. It's be nice to mommy or sink! (just kidding, obviously) He is totally testing his boundaries with me and Willie. Terrible twos have come early. They aren't extremely terrible yet, but I suppose that is probably to come. The swim lessons are Mon-Thur, for the next two weeks so I will just enjoy this tiny bit of control while it lasts.
On the pregnancy front, I am feeling pretty great, aside from the constant back pain and heartburn and fatigue. If it wasn't so hard to fit into clothes and maneuver around things, I might even forget that I am pregnant :) Still haven't found out an exact date for the c section, but hopefully that will change tomorrow morning. Keep you posted!

Swing time

We went to a 60's pool party on Sunday and Vaughn just couldn't wait to have a go on the swing at the house. He likes the "big boy" swings a lot better than the baby ones. He holds on pretty well. Still a little scary. Daddy put him on this one while I was in the bathroom.  video

Last day in Portland

We were able to spend our last day and a half with my friends and their 17 month old Kyla in Portland. It was so fun watching Vaughn and Kyla interact, despite Vaughn being a bully and trying to hit her most of the time. We went to Voodoo Donuts and had the most amazing stuff (I had a cake donut with vanilla frosting dipped in Tang with marshmellows on top) and walked around the Saturday market down by the river. It was pretty awesome, and the first time I have actually spent in Portland besides being at the airport. I really want to go back someday soon. Preferably not pregnant and minus both kids due to the many cool looking bars I saw all over. All in all, it was a really nice trip, and I'm glad I could go and take Vaughn and show him something different. We are both glad to be home though, sleeping in our own beds, not living out of suitcases.

Home already!

That was the quickest two weeks to ever go by. Granted, we still have tomorrow and Saturday, but tomorrow we are headed up to Portland to stay with friends just for the night. Then they are taking us to the airport Saturday. It was such a nice and relaxing trip. Vaughn absolutely loved being outdoors all the time and I think he is hooked on deer. We have seen so many from the window just right out in the yard. We are both going to miss Uncle Mark and Aunt Vicki and Chica very much, but we will be seeing them very soon when they arrive in CA in their sailboat in October. And there is always next summer to look forward to!

Newport, Oregon Aquarium

We took Vaughn to the aquarium in Newport when we were here last summer, but this time was totally different. I mean, obviously he is older and can enjoy things like that more, but he really really loved it. It's a nice place for kids. There was an otter going nuts in the viewing window that he was a little confused about, but he loved the seals and the puffins and other water birds they had. And the tide pools. Here's some photos:

This is from last year- big difference!
